La Boletina is a feminist magazine that addresses a range of issues that affect Nicaraguan women. Thanks to a volunteer distribution network (Las Emboletinadas), twenty six thousand editions are distributed each trimester to 280 organizations in all the 17 provinces of the country. La Boletina is not only the magazine with the largest national circulation, but for many groups and rural women, it is the only popular education material that they access. From the standpoint of young and adult women’s needs, the magazine presents information, ideas and analysis in a clear and simple fashion, so that it can be used as a tool for reflecting upon personal, interpersonal, political and social issues. This magazine represents one of the few spaces where the enormous diversity of Nicaraguan women’s experiences and voices are reflected, especially those that suffer other forms of discrimination, such as handicapped women, women from ethnic minority groups, women from rural areas, young women, and women varied sexual preferences. La Boletina is considered to be Puntos’ greatest contribution to the Nicaraguan women’s movement. |
